Smith to Introduce Bill to speed up Military Death Inquiries

Margaret Smith MSP is to introduce a Member’s Bill to the Scottish Parliament that would allow fatal accident inquiries to be held into the deaths of Scottish servicemen and women abroad.

Smith calls for permanent home for Lion of Scotland at the Parliament

Margaret Smith MSP, on a recent visit to Holyrood Park, was delighted to view the spectacular sculpture exhibition by Cramond based artist Ronald Rae. The exhibition, which is running from 27th May 2006 - 20th May 2007 is a display or some of Ronnie’s gigantic granite sculptures.

Smith and Barrett object again to boundary changes

Margaret Smith, MSP for Edinburgh West has written to both the Boundary Commission and Tom McCabe MSP, Minister for Finance and Public Service Reform, to register her objections to planned changes to the council ward boundaries in the Silverknowes and Davidson’s Mains areas. Margaret declared:“Splitting an established community like Davidson’s Mains into three separate council wards goes completely against the Boundary Commission’s legal requirement to protect community ties.”

MSP slams cash for cash scandal

Margaret Smith MSP is campaigning to end the scandal of Edinburgh’s most deprived communities having to pay for access to their own money. The West Edinburgh MSP wants banks to work with the Scottish Executive to restore free services and access for all of their customers. Margaret has teamed up with the CAB to ask Muirhouse residents for their views.

Smith and Barrett speak out on ship to ship oil transfers

John Barrett MP and Margaret Smith MSP have made a submission to the Maritime and Coastguard Agency about the issue of contingency plans for oil spills in the River Forth in light of proposals for ship to ship oil transfer by Melbourne Marine Services’ for the transfer of oil from small to large tankers four miles off the coast near Methil, Fife.
