SMITH WELCOMES INVESTIGATION INTO POLICE CHECK TIMES

Margaret Smith, MSP for Edinburgh West has welcomed the investigation into the time it takes for the Police to perform checks on people who are going to work with children.

Margaret Smith said:

“Although I of course understand that the safety of our children is vitally important, it is very unfortunate that people have been put off volunteering by the length of time it takes for the police check to be completed.

“This is something that I have been concerned with for some time now, and I am glad that the Executive have finally cracked the whip and promised a quicker and efficient service in the future.”
