Waterfront
Summit hears Concerns
11/10/06
Margaret Smith MSP recently attended the Waterfront Summit to hear local
people’s views.
Margaret says:
“It was clear that
while there have been positive moves such as the recent re-location of
Telford College, residents were unhappy that the biggest regeneration
project in Scotland has failed to deliver local jobs, apprenticeships
and more affordable housing in the past five years. I share their frustrations
that the Council and others have failed to deliver on the promises they
made to local communities. Even now, the Labour Group have decided not
to include local community representatives on the new Waterfront Partnership
Board looking at the next 20 years of the project. There will be seats
for the Council and the three major waterfront landowners but none for
local people.“
