Smith Welcomes Ming’s Visit to Holyrood

Margaret Smith welcomed Liberal Democrat leader Sir Menzies Campbell to the Holyrood Parliament during the Festival of Politics. The festival which is in its second year has proved to be a hit with the public attracting 2,500 visitors when it opened on Wednesday 23rd August.

Margaret said: “I’m delighted the second Festival of Politics is proving to be popular with visitors and city residents alike. This year has been very well attended and it’s fantastic to see so many people visiting the Parliament and enjoying the very varied programme of events.

“Ming is a highly respected politician, who has had a distinguished career at Westminster and it was great to be in the sell out audience to hear him talk about his previous careers as an Olympic athlete and as a QC , to reminisce about his student friendships with John Smith and Donald Dewar as well as hearing about his vision for a better Britain based on the Liberal traditions of freedom, opportunity and compassion.“
