Smith shares Forth Crossing concerns with Transport Scotland 7/9/07 Margaret Smith has submitted her comments about the new Forth Crossing to the Transport Scotland consultation, including concerns about the poor publicity given to the consultation itself. Ms Smith also raised concerns about the damaging impact of a second bridge on the residents of South Queensferry and expressed support for a tunnel crossing as the most effective and least environmentally damaging option. Commenting, Ms Smith said: “I am extremely concerned that the Forth Crossing exhibition and consultation were inadequately advertised in South Queensferry and that many local residents may have been unable to register their views as a result. “I know from my surveys of residents of South Queensferry that many are concerned about the negative impacts another bridge could have, and I feel that plans for a second bridge have been made with no consideration for its effects on people and local communities. I agree with my constituents that a tunnel is the best option for a second crossing and I hope that Transport Scotland will listen to the views of local people.”
