Smith supports Newbridge Development Application

A Planning Application for outline planning permission has been lodged for the development of the former Continental Tyre Site in Newbridge. The application would provide housing, financial support for Hillwood Primary School, a nursing home, environmental improvements and a community centre. Margaret smith MSP has written to the Council expressing support for the application and detailing the benefits of the proposed development for Newbridge and Ratho Station. 

Commenting, Mrs Smith said:

“This planning application would be hugely beneficial to Newbridge and Ratho Station. It would help to deliver new facilities, new affordable homes, and could well help to save Hillwood Primary School from potential closure . It is supported by all local elected representatives of all parties including John Barrett MP as well as the local residents’ association, Community Council and staff at Hillwood Primary.

“I hope that the Councillors on the Planning Committee will recognise the local support for these plans and the positive impact regeneration would have on the villages. I have written to the Planning department to show my support for the development, and I would encourage anyone else who supports the regeneration of Newbridge and Ratho Station to do the same.”
