Smith supports the Sick Kids Hospital
Campaign
20/12/07
Margaret Smith MSP has pledged her support for
the campaign to keep Children’s cancer services at Edinburgh’s
Sick Kids Hospital. The services at the Hospital are under threat as
a result of proposals to centralise all cancer services in one or two
centres in Scotland.
Commenting, the Edinburgh West MSP said:
“The
Sick Kids provides a number of vital services to families in Edinburgh
and I think it is crucial that cancer services are available locally
for very vulnerable children, to allow them to remain near their families
when receiving treatment.
“I will be doing all I can to support the
campaign to keep cancer services at the Sick Kids Hospital, and along
with colleagues I have written to the Cabinet Secretary for Health
to urge her to put a stop to the centralisation proposals and allow
the Sick Kids to continue its good work for children with cancer.”
