Smith calls for Holyrood debate on Edinburgh Park 16/1/08 Margaret Smith MSP is bidding for a debate in the Scottish Parliament on why Edinburgh-Glasgow trains do not stop at the Edinburgh Park. After many years of campaigning on this issue, the Edinburgh West MSP has tabled a motion in Parliament calling for this issue to be debated and the stop to be included on this route. Commenting, Mrs Smith said: “Edinburgh Park is important not only to Edinburgh’s economy but the economy of Scotland as a whole and it is unacceptable that the Glasgow-Edinburgh trains are not scheduled to stop here until 2016, causing huge inconvenience to a number of staff at the Park. “I am pleased that my motion calling for this halt has won cross party support and I hope that a debate in Parliament will be secured to raise awareness of this problem and to encourage the Government to act on this important issue.”
