Queensferry concerns over toll
removal congestion
4/4/08
Margaret Smith MSP has written to the Scottish
Government’s Transport
Minister, Stewart Stevenson MSP after a number of South Queensferry residents
raised concerns about the traffic problems caused by the abolition of
the Forth Bridge tolls.
Commenting, the Edinburgh West MSP said:
“Throughout
the passage of the Abolition of Tolls Bill I pressed the Minister to
take action to prevent toll removal from causing traffic problems,
and following their removal in February, I urged to Government to keep
a close watch on the traffic in the area and address any problems.
“Many residents of Queensferry feel that the
toll removal has now caused serious congestion problems in the area so
I have contacted the Transport Minister once more to bring this to his
attention. I hope that he will take these concerns seriously and I am
also hoping to meet with the Bridgemaster and local Councillors in the
future to discuss these issues.”
